Computer service questions
Do you work on laptops as well as desktop PCs?
Yes. Both desktop computers and laptops can be assessed. Whether a repair is practical depends on the exact model, fault, parts availability and the value of the computer.
What should I bring with the computer?
Bring the computer and its correct power adaptor. If the issue involves a particular charger, display, cable, external drive or other accessory, bring that item too. Note when the problem began and any error message you saw.
Should I provide my Windows password?
Some testing may require access to Windows, but do not send a password through the website. Discuss access arrangements directly. Never provide banking passwords, Microsoft recovery keys, two-factor codes or payment-card details in an enquiry.
Will my files be safe during a repair?
No repairer can promise that storage will never fail, especially when a drive is already damaged. Back up important files before service if the computer still allows it, and identify essential data before any work begins. A backup or transfer should be part of the agreed scope where needed.
Can every lost file be recovered?
No. Recovery depends on the type of storage, the fault and what has happened since the loss. Continued use can overwrite deleted data or worsen a failing drive. Some cases require specialist laboratory recovery, which can be more expensive. Recovery is never guaranteed.
What happens before a repair proceeds?
The symptoms and computer are assessed first. The recommended next step, parts and important risks are then discussed. The agreed scope should be clear before repair or upgrade work proceeds.
How long will a repair take?
It varies with the fault, diagnostic time, parts availability, data transfer size and whether specialist work is required. Timing can be estimated only after the device and problem are understood.
Does virus removal guarantee the computer is secure?
No service can guarantee that a device will never be compromised. Cleanup can remove identified threats and unwanted software, but security also depends on updates, passwords, backups, account protection and ongoing user choices. Compromised online accounts may need separate password resets and provider support.
Will a RAM or SSD upgrade suit my computer?
Compatibility must be checked against the exact model, motherboard, available slots, firmware and operating system. An upgrade should also be judged against the computer’s age, condition and the performance problem you want to solve.
What does a Windows reinstall involve?
A clean reinstall can remove installed applications, settings and data. Windows licensing, backup or transfer, drivers, updates, required accounts and application reinstalls should be discussed before work begins. Some older computers may not meet current Windows requirements.
Websites & hosting
Website service questions
Can you rebuild an existing WordPress website?
Yes, subject to a review of the existing site, hosting, theme, plugins, content and access. A rebuild may be more practical than repairing an outdated or heavily customised setup. The scope should state what will be retained, rewritten, migrated or replaced.
Are domain, hosting and email fees included?
Third-party charges are separate unless a written proposal specifically includes them. This can include domain registration, hosting, email licences, payment-provider fees, premium themes, plugins and subscription services.
Who owns the domain and website accounts?
Your business should keep ownership and recovery access for its domain, hosting, email and important service accounts. Access can be provided for setup without putting long-term ownership in someone else’s name.
What do I need before asking for a website quote?
Start with the website’s goal, intended audience, required pages and features, examples you like, existing domain or site details, available logo and content, approximate budget and preferred timing. A discovery conversation can then define a written scope.

Product and checkout questions
Can I buy products marked DEMO?
Products marked DEMO are examples only and cannot be purchased. For a computer, part or upgrade you are interested in, contact BytePC’s to discuss current options, compatibility and availability.
Can you help me choose compatible parts?
Yes. Tell us your computer model or existing components, what you use the computer for and your budget. We can assess compatibility and help you decide whether an upgrade or replacement makes sense.
Still unsure what you need?
Describe the computer problem or website goal in plain language. Include the device or website involved, what changed and the result you are trying to achieve.
